It's been a while since I last updated my blog outlining my artistic journey...

Little did I realised that it is almost one year since I last updated this blog, and not adding onto this Art Gallery.

For the past few months, I am happy to see that some improvement occurs and here I can post some paintings at the beginning of 2014. With this, as my blog, it will be like a time capsule encapsulate my progress, which I hope that eventually this can be a successful journey.

Just like any other hobbies or sports, it is a matter of interest and time spent on it, that determines the outcome. If you practice more golf, you can see that you handicap reduced.

In painting, the more I get used to my paint brush and the colours. the more confident I become of splashing the colours onto the rice papers....

By end of 2013, here are some of my earlier paintings:

Peonies have been my favourite flower among the many flower taught by the teacher. It was into my 3rd session of painting lessons, so it mean, even if I didn't skip any lessons, I will have taken some 24 lessons in total.....not bad for a novice student in Chinese Ink painting.

The Lotus is another challenging flowers, in my earlier re-collection as reflected in my post in July 2013...

“The lotus is the most beautiful flower, whose petals open one by one. But it will only grow in the mud. In order to grow and gain wisdom, first you must have the mud — the obstacles of life and its suffering. … The mud speaks of the common ground that humans share, no matter what our stations in life. … Whether we have it all or we have nothing, we are all faced with the same obstacles: sadness, loss, illness, dying and death. If we are to strive as human beings to gain more wisdom, more kindness and more compassion, we must have the intention to grow as a lotus and open each petal one by one. ”

Indeed, this journey of painting does allow me to understand that seemingly a simple flower like lotus, it is not easy to capture their energetic essence to accord them with life!
Nonetheless, as compared to my painting back in July, I think the flowers do look like lotus...will still need to work harder!
