Commissioning of Libraries in Cambodia (9^th~13^th June 2006)

 

We had all seen them, heat some above 35°C under hot sun, strong gush of wind that blown off a tent with us beneath it and floods after heavy downpour, all happened during our 4 days trip to Cambodia from 9^th to 13^th June 2006.

 

This brief pictorial report reflect this meaningful outreach project that some Lions of District 308A-1 are bold enough to embark on, in comparison to other NGOs, we are very much humbled by this experience after seeing that many of them had identified and persevered in reaching out to those who need us most.

 

 

On the second day, we officially commissioned the Library @ HCC. Children were very happy to see the formation and the content of the library.

 

 

 

The group proceeded to commission 2 more libraries @ CTS and VillageWork.

 

The 3^rd day was a fun filled day, when we have to travel some 3 hours to another province call VillageWork @ Baray, an Activities center setup by Girls' Brigade.. VIP guests include Mdm. Keth Sam Ath, Dir General in Ministry of Women's Welfare and Mr. Lawrence Anderson, Singapore Ambassador to The Kingdom of Cambodia.

Children's Day Party 2008

This is going to be the 24th year that members of Lions Club of Singapore Fort Canning is organising the annual Children's Day Party.

This year, so far the confirm underpriviledged children is around 380 kids inclusive of 30 student leaders from Telok Kurau Primary School.

While the organising committee was concern of the unexpected expanded cost, Dictrict Chairman had forwarded a good news that this will be recognised as a World Lions Service Day project! Which means that this is project is seen in conjunction with all Lions members doing a service project together.

We anticipated that more clubs will come forward to join us in this long term project championed by LCS Fort Canning.

Remember, the project will be on 28th Sep 2008, starting from 8.30am. The Guest of Honour of this event is Mr Ong Kian Min, MP for Tampines GRC.

It is going to a roaring project!
